After leaving the mountain hut, head southeast to Passo Garlenda (2,015 m), where you take the path descending toward Passo della Guardia. At the nearby road junction, continue your route south along the dirt road (S.P. no. 89), which you leave after just over 1 km to follow a forest path that alternates with the provincial road. After about another 6 km, you emerge into open space just south of Monte Trono.
Walk along the panoramic ridge, passing the ancient fortified cemetery (altitude 883 m), and you’ll quickly enter the medieval settlement of Triora (altitude 775 m, near the parish church).
