CAMMINO - DA UPEGA AL RIFUGIO SANREMO

Triora

Description

Starting from Upega (elevation 1,291 m), follow the steep but shaded path (through the magnificent "Bosco delle Navette") that leads, in just over two hours, to the ridge marking the border between Italy and France, at 2,178 m, in the area known as Colla Rossa. Continue south toward Passo Tanarello (2,045 m) and then to Monte Saccarello (2,200 m), the highest peak in Liguria. Following the ridge a little further south, you’ll see the large monument dedicated to Christ the Redeemer, placed here in the early 1900s. The "Rifugio Sanremo - T. Gauzzi" mountain hut, managed by the CAI – Sanremo Section, is located just over half an hour away, at an elevation of 2,054 m. It serves as a true gateway to Liguria, a convenient overnight stop on our itinerary, and also on the Via dei Monti Liguri and the CAI's Sentiero Italia that pass through this area.
