01 - FROM COL DI TENDA TO MELOSA.

Triora

Description

Starting from the Limone ski resort area, after the climb to Colletto Campanin, continue following, with short climbs and descents, the dirt road that reaches the Rifugio Don Barbera (a refreshment point and possible overnight stay). It continues easily, crossing the Navette larch forest and then reaching the extensive alpine pastures of the Monesi basin. From the Loxe junction (altitude 1,840 m) you take the uphill driveway towards M. Saccarello, but at the next junction you turn right towards Passo Tanarello (altitude 2,045 m). Here it climbs, descending on the western side, in French territory, up to the Collardente Pass (1,600 m), where it returns to the Italian side on the military ridge dirt road. We travel along this historic artery (now SP n. 67) with a predominantly stony bottom for the long stretch that will end with the series of extremely panoramic hairpin bends of the descent from Colle Bertrand (1,960 m) to Colle Melosa (1,545 m)
